What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

Platelet Rich Therapy (PRP) is a non-surgical and natural treatment that uses your own healing abilities to assist follicle and stimulate recovery. PRP involves drawing blood from you, then spinning this in a medical grade centrifuge, separating the platelets and then re-injecting them into your skin through micro needling.

PRP has a variety of uses in medical fields. It is used in both dermatological and aesthetic practices for facial and neck rejuvenation, lines and wrinkles as well as stretch marks and scars.

At Euphoria Medical Center© we offer PRP in our Clinic to treat:

Face – As an effective treatment to restore your skin’s youthful appearance including crow’s feet, frown lines and loose skin

Body – By stimulating and accelerating your natural healing process, the skin is rejuvenated and renewed for stretch marks, cellulite and scarring (after injuries, new or old)

Scalp – Promotes new growth, to help give you fuller and thicker hair for hair rejuvenation

The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment

During your consultation, your practitioner will discuss the treatment, your goals, the procedure and your medical history including past injuries to the area. Following the initial consultation, if you agree to proceed, your practitioner will draw a small amount of your blood from your arm using a small needle.

We then spin your blood very fast in a centrifuge, which separates the platelet rich plasma (containing the important growth factors), from the other blood cells. Once this is completed the PRP is extracted and ready for use.

Should you wish, we can apply a local or topical anesthetic to numb your treatment areas, although most patients do not feel any pain during this treatment.  Your practitioner will then apply (via injection or needling) the platelet rich plasma into, and around, the site you wish to be treated.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does it hurt?
While everyone experiences different levels of pain, you may feel some discomfort and needle stick pain.
  • Are there any side effects?
There may be some swelling or bruising for a few days. The results commonly improve over time, as the swelling subsides, and the filler settles more naturally – this process often takes up to 2 weeks.
  • Am I suitable for Fillers treatment?
This treatment is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding or has severe allergic reactions
  • Fillers Aftercare?
The following may assist with recovery and results: Following the instructions provided by our specialists before and after your treatment Stay upright following your treatment for 3-4 hours Avoid sleeping for 3-4 hours after the treatment (to avoid pressing the treated area) Take arnica supplements and apply arnica cream Avoid strenuous exercise following the treatment Limit your sun exposure Apply a cold compress to the treated area Avoid facial treatments or other treatments on the area Should you experience any symptoms, notify us so we can best assist you. To maintain the effect of your treatment, you will require further follow ups.
  • When will I see results?
Most patients will notice immediate results following their filler treatment. However, note that it can take 7-10 days to notice the final results, which is when any potential bruising, swelling or redness subsides.
  • How long do the results last?
This will depend on your own metabolism. Some people will break down the fillers more quickly than others. A general rule of thumb is that fillers typically last longer in the areas that move the least – such as cheeks, in comparison to lips, which may last a little less time. To maintain the effectiveness of your Fillers treatment, you will require further follow-ups, but you can expect your cheek fillers to last for 6 months and more.
  • What are the benefits of Fillers?
Quick – most treatments take approximately 30 minutes to perform. Faster and more effective than creams – the treatment results are much faster than those achieved when using skincare. Long-lasting results – whilst long-lasting, most fillers are not permanent and are reversible. Natural Results – in the hands of the right, medically trained, artistic hands, such is the team selected to work at Euphoria Medical Center©, the results can be very natural and complement your own natural beauty.
